Teresa Shigeko Batungbacal and Kyle Pohaku Higa are engaged to be married on Maui in spring 2011.
Batungbacal is the daughter of Alan and Margaret Batungbacal of Kihei. She graduated from Maui High School in 2003 and earned a bachelor's degree in marketing and international business with a minor in Japanese language from the University of Hawaii at Manoa.
She currently works at the Halekulani Hotel in Waikiki.

The groom-to-be is the son of Russell and Gisele Higa of Kahului. He graduated from Maui High School in 2003 and earned a bachelor's degree in communications with a minor in speech from the University of Hawaii at Manoa.
He also currently works at the Halekulani Hotel and is a member of the Hawaii Air National Guard.
