Lei sales to benefit youth trip
WAILUKU - Iao Congregational Church is selling hand-woven lei as a fundraiser to help send youth to the Western Regional United Church of Christ Youth Event.
The conference will be held July 6 to 10 in Billings, Mont.
Lei can be made in any color or color combination. They are suggested as gifts for graduating seniors. The price is $10 per lei.
Orders can be made by calling the church at 244-7353. The lei can be picked up at the church at 2371 W. Vineyard St. in Wailuku.

Yogurt, car wash fundraisers set
KAHULUI - The St. John's Episcopal Youth Group will hold two fundraisers in May and June.
A portion of proceeds from yogurt sales at Tutti Frutti will be donated to the group between May 27 and June 2. Customers must mention the St. John's Youth Group at checkout. The store is at 140 Hoohana St., Unit 101.
There will also be a car wash from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 6 at Kmart. The wash costs $5 for a car or $7 for a truck or van.
Funds raised will help pay for a service trip to Maryland at the end of June. For more information, call 283-7161.

Kamp Kumulani 2010 begins May 31
NAPILI - A one-week Bible camp for youth will be offered by Kumulani Chapel.
Kamp Kumulani 2010 will be held from May 31 to June 4 at the Napilihau Recreation Center, from 9 a.m. to noon.
The camp will include exploring the Saddle Ridge Ranch, and children will explore the answers to life questions through Bible stories, crafts, music and games. The program is free and open to children who have completed kindergarten through 5th grade.

Festival of Shavuot events planned
KIHEI - The Jewish Congregation of Maui will celebrate the Festival of Shavuot starting Tuesday.
Observances will start with a service at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, followed by a Torah study session and a light meal of traditional dairy foods.
A service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, with a Yizkor/Memorial service and a recitation of the Book of Ruth at 9:30 a.m. Thursday.
The Festival of Shavuot commemorates the giving of the Torah on Mount Sinai, the harvesting of wheat in Israel and the ripening of the first fruits in the Holy Land.
Beit Shalom Synagogue is at 634 Alulike St. in Kihei.

G-Force Ministry fundraiser Saturday
WAILUKU - G-Force Ministry will hold a fundraiser from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday.
The event will include a rummage sale, costume jewelry, spam musubi, plants, cut flowers, baked goods and other items. Proceeds will support a mission trip.

Tri-Isle association to meet May 21, 22
WAILUKU - A meeting of the Tri-Isle Association of the United Church of Christ will be held May 21 to 22 at Iao Congregational Church.
Registration will begin at 5 p.m. The gathering will include presentations by Leslie Maeda of Po'okela Church, who volunteers with the Maui Drug Court program, and Edie Kapiko of Keawala'i Congregational Church, who volunteers with Hospice Maui.
The meeting will also include time for worship, prayer, fellowship and work.
Iao Congregational Church is at 2371 W. Vineyard St. in Wailuku.
