Lahaina choir set to perform in W. Maui

LAHAINA - The Lahaina Baptist Church Choir will perform at the Whalers Village on April 1 and the Lahaina Cannery Mall on April 2. Both performances will begin at 7 p.m.

The church will hold an Easter celebration, "He Is Alive," from 10 a.m. to noon April 3 at Honokowai Park. The free event will include children's games and crafts, an Easter egg search and more.

On Easter Sunday, the choir will sing at the 8 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. services April 4 at the church at the corner of Shaw Street and Honoapiilani Highway.

St. Joseph's Easter services scheduled

MAKAWAO - Easter Triduum services at St. Joseph's Church will begin Holy Thursday with a Mass of the Lord's Supper at 7 p.m. April 1. The service will include washing of the feet, a procession and transfer of the Eucharist, and adoration.

There will be no morning Mass that day.

Good Friday services will begin at 8 a.m. April 2 with readings and prayer (this service, formerly called Tenebrae, was traditionally a meditation on the passion, death and burial of Jesus). The Lord's passion will follow at 2 p.m. with a veneration of the cross and Holy Communion.

On Holy Saturday, there will be readings and prayer at 8 a.m. April 3. The Easter vigil will follow at 7 p.m.

On Easter Sunday, Mass will be offered at 7, 9 and 11 a.m. April 4. For more information, call 572-7652.

Paia church service will celebrate Kuhio

PAIA - Paia Hawaiian Protestant Church will hold a special worship service celebrating Prince Jonah Kuhio Kalanian'aole's birthday from 11 a.m. to noon Sunday.

Pastor William Kaina and Kahu Walter Baloaloa will lead the service, and the royal Hawaiian societies will be in attendance.

The church also will hold a special Easter sunrise service from 6 to 7 a.m. April 4, led by Pastor Kordell Kekoa from Kawaiaha'o Church.

Church sets free pre-Easter feast

KULA - St. John's Episcopal Church will hold a pre-Easter feast with ham March 26.

The free dinner will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the parish hall adjacent to the church at 8992 Kula Highway, across from Keokea Park.
