WAILUKU - Twenty members of St. Anthony Church will make the Marianist Community lay commitment at the church's 5 p.m. Mass today, which is the feast day of the group's founder, Blessed William Chaminade.
Kay Stone of Honolulu, who is a representative of the Marianist Lay Network of North America and former religious coordinator of St. Anthony's parish, will lead the commitment ceremony, an unprecedented event on Maui, a news release said. The parishioners will commit to one year of sharing their faith in small Christian communities.
Parishioners making the commitment are June Borges, Anita Boteilho, Greg Boteilho, Joe Cardoza, Cora Dongon, Frank Dongon, John Duarte, Gloria Dulay, Terri Gearon, Barbara Gonsalves, Carol Guerrero, Miriam Kahalekai, Rowena Marciel-Enomoto, Debbie Melton, Nancy "Pua" Perry, Jo Reyes, Anne Salek, Jovi Santos, Tehani Shimabuku and Lavern Teves.
Priests and brothers of the parish also will renew their vows at the service. They are the Rev. Roland Bunda, the Rev. Jerry Pleva, Brother Frank "Paco" Gomes and Brother Jim Vorndran.
