Author to speak at Hope Chapel
KIHEI - Author and speaker Ryan Dobson will present a free talk on "Getting Through Life's Tough Times" at 7 p.m. today at Hope Chapel Kihei.
In his writing, speaking engagements and podcast, Dobson "uses every opportunity to call people out of the moral relativism of today's society and into the ultimate adventure of following Christ."

Healing practitioner to speak Saturday
KAHULUI - Tim Myers, a practitioner of Christian Science healing, will present a free talk on "Prayer: God's Stimulus Plan" on Saturday at the Maui Beach Hotel. He will appear at 2 p.m. in the second-floor Lanai Room.
His talk will cover prayer as a way to enhance individual economic situations, including employment and business challenges. Myers points out that prayer is a stimulus to heal relationships and even illnesses that might prevent people from working.
The California resident has traveled throughout the United States and Canada, sharing his experience in a family construction business with a variety of audiences. The latter include students, prisoners, homeless people, interfaith groups and the general public. He is a member of the Christian Science Board of Lectureship.

Emmanuel Lutheran night services set
KAHULUI - Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Maui hosts special Wednesday evening services this month.
The evenings begin with a soup supper at 6 p.m., followed by worship services at 7 p.m.
On Wednesday, the second week of Advent, the theme of services is "God's grace epitomizes his selfless, self-giving love - a grace that saves the beloved."
On Dec. 16, the theme is "God's empowerment of us encourages us to empower those we love."

Play about Christ to be held Dec. 12
KAHULUI - The Yoke of Jesus Christ Church will present "The Birth, the Death, the Resurrection of Jesus Christ" from 5 to 9 p.m. Dec. 12 in the Lihikai Elementary School cafeteria.
Members of the public are invited to see the church's free Christmas play.

Special Masses at St. Joseph Tuesday
