* Personal:

Age 16; daughter of Arlene and Wayne Shinozuka of Wailuku; enjoys crafting, sewing (especially button bracelets), having a good time with friends, traveling.

Student government recording secretary, SCHWA Media (morning announcements and video club) president, DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America), National Honor Society, Aloha Club, graduation committee, School Community Council, co-captain of the swim and water polo teams.

* Off Campus:

Nalu Girlz 4-H Club, Maui Girls 4-H club junior leader, Mika Shin Buyoo Kai (Japanese dance club).

* Beyond High School:

Hopes to go to a university on the East Coast with the goal of earning a master of business administration; eventually, would like open a craft store.

* Who is your personal hero and why?

"My personal hero is my grandmother, Mieko Muramaru. Despite the many hardships she has gone through in life, she always has a positive outlook on the situation and encourages me to have the same. No matter how she is feeling, she always has the energy to ask me how my day is, and takes a genuine interest in my activities. My grandmother has always been my biggest fan, and I'm so grateful to have her in my life."
