Earlier in the day, Baldwin was eliminated from the Division I tournament with a 7-4 loss to Moanalua in a consolation game.
The top-seeded Red Raiders (13-1) scored five runs in the top of the third inning, helped by an error and a wild pitch. Krystal Ijima broke a scoreless tie with a two-run double, and Jessica Iwata tripled with two runners on base.
‘‘Kauai was a great team that took advantage of our mistakes,’’ said Pine Lasses coach Rod Sumagit, whose team will play for third place at 9 a.m. today against Kapaa, an 11-0 loser to Pac-Five on Friday.
Fourth-seeded Lanai (10-8) cut the deficit to four when Ellen Alcantara scored on an error in the bottom of the third.
Iwata’s RBI double in the fifth made the score 6-1, before Lanai’s Deidra Donato hit an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh. Donato finished with two hits
‘‘We didn’t put our heads down after that rally by Kauai,’’ Sumagit said. ‘‘The team didn’t hang their heads.’’
The Pine Lasses’ Kaila Daniels struck out 10 batters in a four-hitter, and two of the runs she allowed were unearned.
Wailana Borrero also had 10 strikeouts in a four-hitter. Both of the runs she gave up were unearned. Borrero also scored two runs.
Iwata was 2-for-2 with a run, three RBIs and a stolen base.
The Bears (15-5) led 4-0 after scoring two runs in each of the first two innings — all of the runs were unearned — but committed three errors and had a passed ball in the fourth, when Moanalua (15-3) scored three times.
Sarah Robinson, who was also the winning pitcher, tied the score with an RBI single in the fifth, and the Menehunes went in front with a run scored on a sixth-inning double play. Hoku Dela Cruz singled in a run in the seventh, and Britni Ronolo later scored an unearned run.
Both teams finished with four errors.
Robinson took over as pitcher from Mary Ann Giles with runners on first and third and no outs in the second inning. She allowed an inherited runner to score, but retired 11 straight batters before Shauna Ah Yen’s sixth-inning single. Robinson struck out eight batters and walked none, and was 3-for-3 at the plate with a double, an RBI and two runs. Dela Cruz and Lauren Oumaye each had two hits.
Baldwin’s Kaitlin Watanabe pitched a complete game, allowing 10 hits and a walk while striking out three. Three of the runs she allowed were unearned.
