Keiley shot a 77 on Wednesday at Wailua Municipal Golf Course in the second and final round of the David S. Ishii Foundation Championships for a 148 total and third-place finish.
Keiley led the Bears to a runner-up finish in the team standings.
‘‘I’m pretty excited because last year, I didn’t do very well,’’ said this year’s Maui Interscholastic League champion, who was 34th in the state last year.
Alex Ching of team champion Punahou was the individual medalist, shooting 74 Wednesday for a 145 total. Teammate John David Nako also shot 74 for a 148 total, and beat Keiley in the matching-scorecards tiebreaker.
The Bears had a team score of 310 Wednesday to finish at 622, 33 shots behind the Buffanblu (295).
‘‘I was ecstatic,’’ said Baldwin coach Buff Burton. ‘‘I’m so excited now, I don’t know what to say. … They’re happy. They shot really good. It all came together at states.’’
The Bears’ Jonathan Keiley (75) took eighth place at 150.
Justin Keiley started the day tied for the lead after shooting an opening-round 71. He had five bogeys on the front nine Wednesday, but settled down and bounced back.
‘‘I was only nervous on the first couple of holes but after that, I wasn’t nervous,’’ he said. ‘‘I got kind of used to the guys I was playing with and I started playing.’’
Keiley won the four-round league tournament by 15 shots.
‘‘I’ve been playing really good the last two weeks and brought it into this tournament,’’ Keiley said. ‘‘Every time I practiced, I shot even or under par. Today I had a rough front nine but I turned it on in the back.’’
St. Anthony, the only other MIL team competing, finished seventh with a 640.
The Trojans’ Taeksoo Kim (76) tied for ninth at 151.
Maui High’s Ken Takushi (77) also won a medal, tying for 14th with a 154 total.
Baldwin took second place to St. Anthony in the MIL team standings and entered the tournament wanting to do even better as a team.
‘‘We were disappointed after the loss to St. Anthony, but we just brought that out here and just wanted to do good,’’ Keiley said. ‘‘That loss made us want to get second or finish high over here. That kind of motivated us.’’
The team got together after their opening round and talked things out, Burton said.
‘‘I guess they wanted to do better than yesterday — they put it together last night, talked about it and said, ‘You know what, let’s go out there and do it.’
‘‘What can I say? I’m just proud of them. They practice every day, they’re at the golf courses every single day and it paid off.’’
Baldwin’s Aaron Villanova (76) finished at 159, Joshua Hemens (82) at 161, Mitchell Kwee (85) at 169 and Kasey Munitake (87) at 170.
The Trojans’ Alex Wong, shot an 83 to finish at 159, one shot in front of Andrew Wong (76). St. Anthony’s Kendrick Dumo (87) finished at 170, and C.J. Fernandez (98) had a 186 total.
Lahainaluna’s Eric Emmel (81) finished at 156, and Seabury Hall’s Alex Omer (82) at 161. Kamehameha Maui’s Kelii Dias (82) had a 162 total, one shot better than teammate Andrew Kunitomo (84) and Seabury Hall’s Darren Fryer (76). Kamalu Kaina of Kamehameha Maui had a second-round 81 for a 164 total. Garrick Pagay (87) of Lanai finished at 173.
