STUDENT SPOTLIGHT: Cheyanne Keliihoomalu

• PERSONAL: Age 17; daughter of Deanna and Kalapana Keliihoomalu of Maunaloa; enjoys rodeo and mathematics.

• AT SCHOOL: Drama Club, Principal’s Honors List, senior class vice president, will be inducted into the National Honor Society on May 28.

• OFF CAMPUS: Hawaii High School Rodeo Association, Molokai 4-H Livestock Club, National Society of High School Scholars.

• BEYOND HIGH SCHOOL: Plans to major in computer science at the University of Hawaii at Hilo; her goal is to be a computer programmer.

• WHO IS YOUR PERSONAL HERO AND WHY? “My personal hero would be my papa (grandfather), Jimmy Duvauchelle, because he has made much of himself by simply doing what he loves. He has worked hard and has been a member of the Paniolo Hall of Fame since 2001. He is also well-respected by everyone. I also look up to my papa because he has encouraged me from a young age to attend college and get a higher career.”
