Royal Lahaina Resort wins Way to Go! award

KAANAPALI — The Royal Lahaina Resort has won Lahaina Bypass Now’s Way to Go! award for April for putting up an employee bus shelter at the resort.

The Way to Go! award program recognizes community members and businesses who use or make a positive contribution to alternative forms of transportation.

In December, The Royal Lahaina Resort, like many other west side resorts, began providing employees with free monthly commuter bus passes.

The number of employees riding the commuter buses grew rapidly.

The bad storms in January prompted the resort to provide tents and benches for its employees to use while waiting for the bus.

The Royal Lahaina Resort will receive a $20 gift certificate from Penne Pasta for winning the award.
