The March 20 event was for the morning riders on three routes: a bus that goes from Kihei to Kapalua, two buses from the Makawao-to-Kapalua route and three for Wailuku-Kapalua.
“Lahaina Bypass Now wants to thank community members who use public transportation for playing a role in lessening traffic and improving the quality of life on Maui,” said Theo Morrison, executive director of the group.
“We also want to thank the wonderful volunteers who woke up early to greet the commuter bus riders, as well as The Bakery for baking the cookies and the West Maui Senior Center for packaging them,” she said.
The resorts provided the coffee.
Lahaina Bypass Now seeks to coordinate community efforts to support transportation solutions for Maui working with state and county governments, local businesses and concerned residents. It was originally organized to expedite the construction of the Lahaina bypass highway.
