Alexander may get start
University of Hawaii football coach Greg McMackin has said the team’s starting quarterback for Saturday’s game against Florida ‘‘could be a game-time decision’’ between Brent Rausch and Greg Alexander, the Honolulu Advertiser reported on its Web site Tuesday. McMackin said Rausch, who had been named the No. 1 quarterback two weeks ago, still has tenderness in his throwing arm, the Advertiser reported, adding that Rausch practiced Tuesday, but Alexander took the majority of snaps with the No. 1 offense. Rausch was the Foothill Conference Player of the Year last season at College of the Desert in Palm Desert, Calif., after completing 201 of 330 passes for 2,653 yards and 28 touchdowns. Alexander passed for 71 touchdowns in two seasons at Santa Rosa Junior College, a national record. Last year, he completed 284 of 448 throws for 3,487 yards with 40 touchdowns and six interceptions. The Warriors’ other quarterback is Inoke Funaki.
