Maui is in a Little League World Series for first time since 1987

August 6, 2014 - Robert Collias
I was talking to Shane Dudoit this morning and he told me about playing on the 1987 Molokai Senior League All-Star team that finished third at the World Series in Kissimmee, Fla.

Within the last hour, the next team from the Valley Isle to make any Little League World Series has joined Dudoit's team. Dudoit, a veteran coach, is now an assistant at Baldwin High School and guides several of the players on the current roster.

Here is a breaking news story that you can read on the front of our website:

The Central East Maui All-Stars became the first Maui County team to advance to a Little League World Series since 1987 with a dramatic 12-4 win over Manhattan Beach, Calif., today in the Senior League (15-16) West Regional final.

Central East Maui scored 10 runs in the top of the seventh inning to cap a comeback from 4-0 down through five innings in the game played in Ontario, Calif.

Linden Kanamu pitched a complete game six-hitter, allowed two earned runs, struck out five and walked two. Shadd Santos, Orion Miyasato-Farias, Rylie Velez and Skyelor Ishikawa combined for 12 of Maui's 13 hits in the win.

Maui advances to the Senior League World Series that begins Friday in Bangor, Maine.

Maui won all five of its games in the West Regional, outscoring its opponents 61-17.
