Central East Maui Seniors back in action today at West Regional
August 2, 2014 - Robert Collias
They haven't played since Wednesday, but if their start was any indication, things are going to be interesting when the Central East Maui All-Stars bounce back into action today at the Senior League West Regional in Ontario, Calif., at 3 p.m. HST.
Here is the start of our story from their win Wednesday:
Central East Maui rolled to a 15-0, five-inning victory over Lewis River, the Washington state champion, in both teams' opener of the Little League Senior League (ages 13-16) West Regional Tournament on Wednesday in Ontario, Calif.
Maui scored three runs in the first and six in each of the second and third innings. Maui had 12 hits and took advantage of six errors from the team from Woodland, Wash.
Linden Kanamu, who worked three innings, and Akoni Hamilton-Golis combined on a no-hitter with one walk and eight strikeouts for Maui. Hamilton-Golis struck out the side in the top of the fifth.
"We couldn't have asked for a better start," Maui manager Lee Kashiwamura said. "The kids were hungry and they wanted to play since the day we got here, so it was good news today."
