Hawaii to play Pittsburgh at War Memorial on Nov. 21
July 9, 2014 - Robert Collias
The University of Hawaii will play Pittsburgh in a game at War Memorial Gym on Nov. 21, three days before the Panthers play in the EA Sports Maui Invitational at the Lahaina Civic Center in the 2014-15 UH schedule announced today.
Here is our breaking story, with a cool fact box to go with it:
The University of Hawaii men's basketball team will play Pittsburgh at War Memorial Gym in Wailuku in a Nov. 21 regular-season game, UH announced Tuesday in releasing its 2014-15 schedule.
The Rainbow Warriors will be playing their seventh regular-season game in Maui County -- they have a 5-1 mark in the previous contests.
A tip-off time for the game against the Panthers, and information on ticket sales, are to be announced later.
Hawaii went 20-11 last season. Pitt went 26-10 and lost in the NCAA tournament's round of 32.
Pitt head coach Jamie Dixon had two stints as a UH assistant, from 1992 to 1994, and from 1998 to 1999.
The Panthers are also part of this year's field for the EA Sports Maui Invitational, which begins Nov. 24 at the Lahaina Civic Center.
Hawaii's last game in Maui County was on Molokai in 2012 --- a win over Chaminade at "The Barn" in Hoolehua. The Rainbow Warriors' last game on Maui was a 2011 victory over North Carolina A&T at War Memorial.
Chaminade and Pitt will be joined in this year's Maui Invitational by Arizona, Brigham Young, Kansas State, Missouri, Purdue and San Diego State.
