Baldwin seeded second, Seabury Hall third in boys state soccer
February 9, 2014 - Robert Collias
It looks to me like favorable draws for the MIL in boys soccer, but after the league's girls went 1-6 at state — and all four D-I seeds lost their quarterfinals — seeds clearly don't always mean a whole lot in soccer.
Here is our breaking-news story:
The Baldwin High School boys soccer team received the No. 2 seed in the Outrigger Hotels & Resorts Division I State Championship bracket announced Sunday.
Baldwin will play in the quarterfinals on Thursday at the Waipio Peninsula Soccer Complex on Oahu against the winner of Wednesday's match between Hilo and Kapolei.
Kamehameha Maui and Mililani will meet Wednesday, with the winner advancing to a match against fourth-seeded Kealakehe. Kamehameha Maui placed third in the state last year.
Iolani received the No. 1 seed, and Kaiser is seeded third.
Seabury Hall was seeded third in the Division II bracket, and will open with a quarterfinal match against Mid-Pacific on Thursday. The winner of that meeting will play second-seeded Hawaii Prep or Leilehua on Friday for a berth in the title match.
Kapaa, the defending champion, is the top seed in D-II. Roosevelt is seeded fourth.
