Tanaka-Tamaki will miss a couple weeks after injury
January 23, 2014 - Robert Collias
I ran into Kento Tanaka-Tamaki at the Royal Lahaina Tennis Ranch Wednesday, where the 2011 St. Anthony graduate was watching the Royal Lahaina Challenger.
Tanaka-Tamaki is home for surgery for a meniscus injury that is going to keep him out for the Pepperdine University men's team for a few weeks. He suffered the injury at home during a Christmas break workout, so he must go through a private insurance provider since it the injury did occur at a school practice or competition.
Tanaka-Tamaki, the three-time MIL Player of the Year and 2011 state runner-up, has broken into the Waves' lineup at the No. 5 or 6 slot most of the time in the fall season, but has struggled to an 0-8 singles record.
Tanaka-Tamaki was upbeat and said he would be back by mid-February for the 12th-ranked Waves.
