Next Persian cooking class to entice on Saturday
June 27, 2013 - Carla Tracy
Paris Nabavi, owner/chef of Cilantro Mexican Grill in Lahaina and Pizza Paradiso in Honokowai Marketplace, will present his next monthly Persian cooking class on Saturday evening in his beautiful Kaanapali home.
Attendees will find it to be interactive and it’s also for a good cause, as proceeds benefit Maui Food Bank’s programs.
“Chef Nabavi hosts the events at his home kitchen and organic garden,” says his publicist Karin Sagar. “Guests will be able to casually mingle and enjoy a front-row seat as he creates Persian delights. The classes will be held the last Saturday of every month for the rest of the year.”
A classically trained chef with a business background, he held executive–level positions as Director of Food and Beverage for Fairmont Hotels and the Kapalua Bay Hotel prior to launching his first private restaurant venture. Nabavi was recently named “Exceptional Small Business” for 2013 for Maui County.
This week’s menu includes:
Kuku Sabzi: Herb soufflé with Barberries and Walnut
Salad- E- Shirazi: Cucumber, Tomatoes, Red onion, Parsley, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Citrus Juice
Adas Polo: Basmati Rice, Lentil, Raisins, Date, Orange Zest
Roune’ Gousfand: Braised Leg of Lamb in Saffron
Sholeh Zard: Rice Pudding with Saffron, Almond, Rosewater and Cinnamon
Persian Tea: Pistachio Nougat. Noon kishmishi. Hand cut Sugar
“Come party, eat and drink and celebrate the taste of Persian food,” says Nabavi. “This five-course meal is accompanied by beer and wine and is offered at $100 per person with ALL proceeds donated to the Maui Food Bank. Checks can be made payable to Maui Food Bank and are collected at the time of the class.”
