Feets, do yo' stuff

June 25, 2013 - Harry Eagar

Bloomberg News reports that the Army is planning to shrink by 12 brigades, about 4 divisions.

Invasions by state armies are almost unheard of any more.

Anything our army is asked to do will be more in the nature of a police action. Preferably, we would just support the national police of a functioning state under stress, but that isn't the kind of place we go.

If you are policing, you need feet on the beat. Therefore, more infantry, not less.

Did we learn nothing in Iraq and Afghanistan?

Yes, we learned nothing.

Yes, and now many Americans adopt Cambodian babies. Bigger wars and more people die. I still say that America should end their Civil War as other countries are starting theirs. Japan started their Civil War after so called ender theirs. I repeat the Civil War has not ended.

Not all American interventions ended badly, but the bigger the intervention, the more spectacularly bad the result. Cambodia, for example.

America does not know their enemy. Their enemy is in themselves.

Good Policing is not take by force but by example.

Osama bin Laden said in ten years he would bankrupt America. Ten years in Afghanistan and Russia is in bankruptcy. Aiding to Muslim country by giving them weapons is keeping this beczar country of Russia going. America was warned.

That's how the military is thinking, but we've proved in Iraq and Afghanistan that it doesn't work. Drones cannot talk to people, get to know the neighbors, all the things that good policing includes.

Of course, the concept of good policing is unknown in just about all the trouble spots we manage to get ourselves into. It would help if our government would support democratic and honest factions, but we almost never do. We just try to eradicate them. (See Vietnam.)

America sent to Vietnam, advsiors of few men but it ended up with hundred of thousands soldiers sent to fight there.

Probably policing will be done by drones or robots guided from far, since infantry, men and women die. Machines just crash with no lives on board. Robots are not human.

Infantry is there to protect the mobile calvary. With the agony of infantry defeets, America started using drones.
