Kekaulike's Gregg headed to Southwestern Univ. for track

June 4, 2013 - Robert Collias
Thanks to reader Dutch for letting me know that recent King Kekaulike graduate Keegan Gregg is headed to Southwestern University to run for the track team.

Gregg was leading the MIL in receiving in the 2012 football season when he suffered a season-ending knee injury in a mid-September, but he made it back to the wrestling mats in time to finish sixth at 142 pounds in the MIL championships in late February.

Then, he was a standout in track and field, winning the MIL 800 and finishing third in the state 800.

According to my man, Dutch, Southwestern is an NAIA school in Winnfield, Kans., and the men's track team has won 30 consecutive conference championships, while the women have won 16 straight.

The men's cross country team has won 30 consecutive conference championships, while the women have won 4 straight and 11 of the last 14, with the school garnering 134 conference championships in nine different sports since 1960. The school has had over 160 All-American scholar-athletes since 1980.
