Isagawa shoots 71, vaults to tie for 28th at NCAA golf
May 22, 2013 - Robert Collias
Here is a brief I filed a few minutes ago for Thursday's paper:
Cassy Isagawa, a 2011 Baldwin High School graduate and University of Oregon sophomore, vaulted from a tie for 64th to a tie for 28th with a 1-under-par 71 in the second round of the NCAA Women's Golf Championships at the University of Georgia Golf Course on Wednesday.
Isagawa birdied the 18th hole after she had to leave the course for a weather delay with one hole left in her round. She stands at 2-over 146 midway through the 72-hole event.
Alabama's Stephanie Meadow is the individual leader at 8-under 136 after she shot 67 on Wednesday.
Top-ranked Southern California leads the team race by 12 strokes at 16-under 560. Second-ranked Alabama is second, and Isagawa's 35th-ranked Oregon team stands in a tie for 17th at 20-over 596.
Six teams were still on the course after play was halted for the day due to lightning.
