Maui High hangs on for 4-3 win at state baseball

May 9, 2013 - Robert Collias
It was close and dramatic, but the Maui High School baseball team held on for a 4-3 win over Pearl City in the first round of the HHSAA Division I state baseball tournament at Maehara Stadium in the final game of the night Wednesday.

Read my story in Thursday's paper for all the details — it was a nailbiter.

Here are today's quarterfinal matchups:

—No. 4 Hilo vs. Kailua, 11:30 a.m.

—No. 2 Mid-Pacific vs. Waiakea, 2 p.m.

—No. 3 Campbell vs. Maui High, 4:30 p.m.

—No. 1 Baldwin vs. Mililani, 7 p.m.

With two MIL teams alive and playing a doubleheader nightcap, the stadium will be rockin Thursday night, guaranteed.

Stay tuned for all the best coverage, right here and in the paper all week.
