Punahou, Samiere in control at boys state golf

May 8, 2013 - Robert Collias
Punahou School shot 5-under par as a team, led by PJ Samiere's 6-under 65, which leads by three strokes after the first round of the David S. Ishii Foundation boys state golf tournament at Royal Kaanapali Golf Course.

Last week, Punahou freshman Mariel Galdiano won by seven strokes and Buffanblu teammates cruised to victory, by a record 37 strokes.

Here is a look at Wednesday's final-round tee times.

Baldwin's Ariel Elftman-Hanson and Lahainaluna's Lucas Bell lead the MIL contingent with 74s, which is tied for seventh.

MIL team champion Baldwin stands fourth, 33 strokes behind Punahou.
