Baldwin first No. 1 seed for MIL in D-I baseball since Molokai in 2000
May 6, 2013 - Robert Collias
To the best of my recollection, Baldwin's selection as the top seed in the D-I state baseball tournament that begins Wednesday at Maehara Stadium is the first time that has happened for an MIL since Molokai was the defending state champion in 2000, when the tournament was also played at Maehara, and the Farmers won their second straight state title.
Here is a link to our breaking story, with some reaction from Bears coach Jon Viela, who played for the school's 1982 state championship team as a freshman before his standout career at the University of Hawaii.
As expected, MIL runner-up Maui High and Baldwin will play the 7 p.m. feature games on Wednesday and Thursday nights. Maehara Stadium should be rockin' for both.
We will have blanket coverage right here and, of course, in the paper all week.
