Ocean Vodka in the spirit for grand opening party Saturday
April 25, 2013 - Carla Tracy
The only spirit in the world that claims it’s made with sun, ocean and organic earth is Maui’s own Ocean Vodka.
On Saturday, the new Ocean Vodka Organic Farm and Distillery will celebrate its grand opening by offering visitors and locals a rural Maui experience that includes a blessing, free barbecue lunch, hourly tours and live music.
“The new 80-acre farm and craft distillery illustrates our company’s mission,” says CEO Shay Smith. “To create a superior, organic, value-added agricultural product from Hawaii that supports the local economy, competes globally on quality, operates with environmental responsibility and raises awareness for oceanic conservation.”
The grand opening celebration is free and open to the public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. It’s located at 4051 Omaopio Rd. in Kula (just below Surfing Goat Dairy).
Kahu Laki Kaahumanu will lead the opening blessing, followed by musical performances throughout the day including Deason Kaohelo from Lahaina Grown, slack-key master Kevin Brown, Zenshin Daiko taiko drummers and ukulele master CJ Helekahi.
Tours will run at 11 a.m., and 12:30, 1:30, 2:30 and 3:30 p.m. A free BBQ lunch will be provided for all guests.
