Mauian Cassy Isagawa in hunt at event at Kapalua

March 25, 2013 - Robert Collias
I'm headed out to the Kapalua Bay Course very soon, but in the meantime, 2011 Baldwin graduate Cassy Isagawa is currently in the mix at the Anuenue Spring Break Classic.

The 54-hole event plays today through Wednesday and the field is loaded with seven Pac-12 teams, Pepperdine, and Tulsa in the field, along with host Hawaii. Here is the team leaderboard.

Ranked teams here (by golfstat.com) include No. 10 Washington, No. 11 UCLA, No. 12 Stanford, No. 13 UC Davis, No. 17 Arizona State, No. 31 Pepperdine, No. 34 Denver and No. 39 Oregon.

The local ties in this event are numerous with Isagawa, Hawaii's Liana Otake from Maui High and Wahine coach Lori Castillo is also a former Maui resident, while UH-Hilo has Baldwin graduate Dayna Bersamin and Kamehameha Maui's Shannon Abarra.

Tulsa features former state champion Kristina Merkle coming off a C-USA golfer of the week award. Merkle won the second of her back-to-back state titles for Moanalua at Royal Kaanapali in 2009.

We will be on site all three rounds, so catch the coverage in the paper.
