5,000 people expected for Carlos Santana concert so come early, beat the rush, and enjoy food and drink

With 5,000 people getting ready to boogie to Carlos Santana at Maui Arts & Cultural Center in Kahului on Thursday, traffic will be impacted in the area, and so management has passed on some guidelines to ease the situation.

The best bet is: Get there early and enjoy food and drink by the awesome lineup of vendors, including Longhi’s and Stella Blues Cafe, among others.

When and where is the concert? At 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28 at A&B Amphitheater at Maui Arts & Cultural Center. Gates to the concert area will open at 5:30 pm. The Events Lawn F&B court opens at 4:30 pm.

Where do I pick up my tickets? At the MACC Box Office at Will-Call. You are strongly urge to pick up tickets now or anytime prior to the concert area opening. (MACC Box Office is open Monday – Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and up to showtime on show nights.)

What about the Food Court? The Events Lawn will be jumping from 4:30 p.m.with food, beverages and Santana merchandise. Those 21 years and older should bring ID to buy alcoholic beverages.

Will there be a Beer Garden? No. But beer and wine will be available for adults with the proper ID.

What food and beverages will be sold? Will there be scrip? Prepared food, bottled water, soft drinks, beer and wine will require scrip which can be purchased at various locations with cash; vendors will not accept cash or credit cards. Food prices range from $2 to $15, soft drinks cost $2, premium beers and wines cost $7 to 8.

What is the food lineup? Stella Blues Cafe will toss Greek salads, grill baby-back ribs with coleslaw, and dish up yellow vegetable curry over brown rice. Longhi’s will be there with frutta de mare (fruits of the sea over a bed of linguine) along with grilled veggie lasagne and Caesar salad. And Kobehana of Maui will tempt you with teppanyaki shrimp, rib-eye steak, teriyaki chicken and combo plates. Other caterers are Sumo Dog, Ono Gelato, Kazowie Kettlecorn and Outrigger Pizza. What about parking for the concert? Day of show parking is available at UH Maui College’s grass field for $10 cash. Enter at the Recycling Center driveway. Parking for individuals with disabilities will be available on a first come, first served basis in the MACC lot or UH-MC asphalt lot for $10.

When do the parking lots open? Parking lots will be open at 3 p.m. on show day.

What if it rains or there are high winds on the day of the concert?The concert will take place rain, shine or wind. Although you won’t be able to bring an umbrella in the concert area, you can be prepared with a rain poncho or hat. There are no ticket refunds or exchanges; all sales are final.

What else should we know? For everyone’s safety, no strollers, umbrellas, beach chairs, backpacks or anything with a hard frame will be permitted in the venue, nor any tote bags or coolers, cans, bottles (except plastic water bottles), flying discs or potential projectiles. Cameras, recording devices and weapons are strictly prohibited. If found, you will be asked to return them to your vehicle. No illegal drugs or paraphernalia will be allowed. If found, they will be confiscated. The MACC is a non-smoking facility.
