| | Loewen earns first career start for Arkansas in 19-15 winNovember 3, 2012 - Robert ColliasRichard Davenport of the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette texted me during the game to let me know that Mitchell Loewen started at tight end today for the Arkansas Razorbacks. The former Lahainaluna standout and 2010 MIL Defensive Player of the Year wore No. 89 and he and the Hogs beat Tulsa 19-15 in front of more than 64,000 fans on homecoming day. Here is a link to the stats package where Loewen is listed as one of two TE starters, a great indicator that he may be in line for a scholarship. By my count, Loewen has lined up at middle linebacker, outside linebacker, defensive end, center, guard, tackle and now tight end in less than two seasons for the Hogs. Wow. Read the links above, it is a pretty remarkable tale for this young man, the first MIL football player ever to suit up in the SEC. Today was a big step on what has been a pretty cool journey.
