| | Cyr advances to second stage of Q SchoolOctober 27, 2012 - Robert ColliasAfter a 3-over front, Sam Cyr made a pair of back-nine birdies to solidify his qualifying spot in the first stage of PGA Tour Qualifying School today at Oak Valley Golf Club in Beaumont, Calif. Cyr's 1-over 73 left him in a tie for seventh at 2-under 286, 11 strokes behind winner Seong Lee, in the stage that sent 19 to the second stage. Cyr, a 2005 King Kekaulike graduate who has now made the second stage three times in the last four years, texted me two weeks ago and said he will play his next stage at Bear Creek Golf Club in Murieta, Ga., Nov. 14-17. The final stage, where Web.com (formerly Nationwide) and PGA tour cards are on the line, is at PGA West in Palm Desert, Calif. — near Cyr's San Diego stomping grounds — and will be televised by The Golf Channel Nov. 28-Dec. 3. We are attempting to get Sam's reaction to the opportunity in front of him — he's playing pretty well right now — so check tomorrow's paper or right here.
