| | Isagawa wins first college title in season's first eventSeptember 18, 2012 - Robert ColliasIn my opinion, it is the first of many, but an elusive collegiate win is now in the hands of 2011 Baldwin graduate Cassy Isagawa, who earned first-team All-American honors for the University of Oregon last year as a freshman. Here is a copy of the press release on Isagawa's first win, which landed in my in-box this afternoon: For Immediate Use September 17, 2012 EUGENE, Ore. - Sophomore Cassy Isagawa took individual medalist honors and the University of Oregon women¹s golf team finished third-place overall at the 2012 Topy Cup played at the Tanagura Country Club in Tanagura, Japan. After shooting an opening round 71, Isagawa tallied back-to-back 69s to finish with a 7-under-par 209, winning the tournament by five strokes. Seira Oki of Tohoku Fukushi University and Rieko Sakashita of Doshisha University tied for second place with a 2-under-par total of 214. The Ducks tallied rounds of 298, 297 and 293 in shooting a 54-hole total of 888 (+24). Oregon edged out California as the top team from the U.S., with the Golden Bears shooting a three-round total of 889 (+25). Tohoku University shot the best team score with a 3-over-par 867 (289-290-288). Freshman Caroline Inglis shot a 10-over-par 226 (77-75-74) and finished tied for 16th in her first collegiate tournament action. Sophomore Cali Hipp finished at 13-over-par 229 (80-74-75) which was good for 24th place, while fellow sophomore Monica Petchakan ended the 54-hole tournament at 15-over-par 231 (75-81-75) and finished in 27th place. Junior Raphaela Dyer rounded out the UO lineup finishing in 28th place with an 18-over-par 234 (75-79-80). Oregon returns to action this week with the Mason Rudolph Invitational scheduled for Sept. 21-23 at Legend Club North Course in Nashville, Tenn.
