Pu'u-Robinson will not play for UH this season
August 30, 2012 - Robert Collias
Jordan Pu'u-Robinson has been denied by the NCAA in his attempt to be immediately eligible to play for the University of Hawaii this season, UH spokesman Derek Inouchi confirmed this morning.
Pu'u-Robinson tranferred to UH from Washington State, where he spent the first three years of his college career. He had requested an exemption from the NCAA on its one-year of no play for transfers for family reasons. His request was denied in writing from the NCAA to UH on Wednesday.
The Warriors had been holding a spot for him on its 64-player travel squad — the team leaves today for Los Angeles, where it will play No. 1-ranked USC on Saturday.
Pu'u-Robinson had been in line to start for WSU and new head coach Mike Leach this season. He had nine tackles in two starts last season, missed the 2010 season with a knee injury and redshirted as a freshman in 2009.
He attended Kamehameha Schools Maui for his first three years and graduated from Baldwin in 2009.
Depending on how the NCAA rules on his injury season of 2010, JPR may have just one season of eligibility at UH, in 2013.
