Trade talk white hot for Victorino, deadline tomorrow

July 30, 2012 - Robert Collias
Watching "Baseball Tonight" on Sunday after St. Anthony grad Shane Victorino's first homer since June 8, his greeting in the dugout felt like a goodbye to his Philadelphia Phillies teammates.

There are tons of stories and links out there, but here is a quick link to a bunch of them on the Victorino trade rumors. The Phils are off today and the trade deadline is Tuesday, so Victorino may have already played his final game as a Phillie.

Meanwhile, in Oakland, the A's have acquired a third catcher in George Kottaras and columnist Jesse Reed says here that they should trade Kurt Suzuki. Tampa Bay, the Dodgers and Angels are good fits for Suzuki.

The Dodgers are high on the list for Victorino, too, so the possibility it out there that both of Maui's major leaguers could end up on the same roster, if not at least the same city.

The non-waiver deadline is 10 a.m. HST Tuesday. Both of Maui's guys could survive with their current teams past then and be traded by the Aug. 31 waiver deadline, but the likelihood that one or both will move this season is pretty large right now.
