Big Island steak lovers sink teeth into new Hualalai Grille on the Kohala Coast

July 23, 2012 - Carla Tracy

Steak lovers are now sinking their teeth into Hualalai Grille, located in a free-standing building at the award-winning Hualalai Resort, a residential and hotel community on the North Kona Kohala Coast of the Big Island.

Many people recognize the resort as the prestigious property north of Kailua Kona that also includes Four Seasons Resort Hualalai. The newly opened restaurant now offers a classic American Steakhouse menu of top-quality cuts of meats, hand-crafted traditional sides, fresh island fish, local Hamakua mushrooms, big-eye seared ahi and macadamia-nut toffee ice cream pie as some of the house favorites.

“This casual yet contemporary club setting with dark wood floors and a live edge Koa table that seats a party of ten was designed by California-based interior design and architecture firm EDG,” states the press release.

“Executive Sous Chef James Ebreo and his culinary team oversee the menu, featuring the best Big Island ranchers beef and prime Steaks complemented with a choice of four different sauces, which includes their specialty chilichurri and a tomato relish.”

“We are excited about the new Hualalai Grille and the traditional American Steakhouse menu. Hualalai Grille completes our diverse culinary offerings, which include Beach Tree, Pahu i`a and the Residents’ Beach House,” says Pat Fitzgerald, CEO of the resort.

“An extensive cocktail and wine menu is also available, featuring specialty cocktails including the 19th Hole with Absolut Ruby Red Vodka, fresh squeezed Kohala grapefruit and lime juices and agave nectar. Hualalai Grille’s wine list includes both wines by the glass and bottle, priced from $10/glass and $60/bottle.”

“The restaurant also serves up stunning ocean sunset views above the 18th green of the famed Hualalai Golf Course, home of the PGA’s Champions Tour Mitsubishi Electric at Hualalai.”

Open Wednesday through Monday from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Reservations are recommended. Contact the Club Concierge at (808) 325-8450.
