A total of 17 NBA draftees played here

Former EA SPORTS Maui Invitational Participants among NBA Draftees

First round includes nine student-athletes who competed at the Lahaina Civic Center

Maui, Hawaii, June 29, 2012 – A total of 17 players from 11 teams who have participated in the EA SPORTS Maui Invitational over the past four years were selected during the 2012 NBA Draft, which aired tonight on ESPN.

Over the 28-year history of the EA SPORTS Maui Invitational, more than 200 student-athletes have played in the premier early-season college basketball tournament and also been selected in the NBA Draft. There have been two overall No. 1 picks that played in the EA SPORTS Maui Invitational:

• Elton Brand (Duke, 1997 Maui, 1999 NBA Draft)

• Joe Smith (Maryland, 1994 Maui, 1995 NBA Draft)

Tournament participants selected in the first round of the 2012 NBA Draft were:

• Thomas Robinson (No. 5 overall pick, Sacramento / Kansas, 2011 Maui and All-Tournament Team selection) • Terrence Ross (No. 8 overall pick, Toronto / Washington, 2010 Maui)

• Austin Rivers (No. 10 overall pick, New Orleans / Duke, 2011 Maui and All-Tournament Team selection)

• Jeremy Lamb (No. 12 overall pick, Houston / Connecticut, 2010 Maui)

• Tyler Zeller (No. 17 overall pick, Dallas (traded to Cleveland) / North Carolina, 2008 Maui)

• Terrence Jones (No. 18 overall pick, Houston / Kentucky, 2010 Maui and All-Tournament Team selection)

• John Jenkins (No. 23 overall pick, Atlanta / Vanderbilt, 2009 Maui)

• Miles Plumlee (No. 26 overall pick, Indiana / Duke, 2011 Maui)

• Festus Ezeli (No. 30 overall pick, Golden State / Vanderbilt, 2009 Maui)

“Once again, the number of players chosen in the 2012 NBA Draft who have played in the EA SPORTS Maui Invitational exemplifies the high-quality of teams that the Tournament attracts and basketball fans everywhere enjoy watching on an annual basis,” said David Odom, EA SPORTS Maui Invitational Tournament Chairman.

In addition, the following Tournament participants were taken in the second round:

• Jeffrey Taylor (No. 31 overall pick, Charlotte / Vanderbilt, 2009 Maui)

• Draymond Green (No. 35 overall pick, Golden State / Michigan State, 2010 Maui)

• Will Barton (No. 40 overall pick, Portland / Memphis, 2011 Maui)

• Tyshawn Taylor (No. 41 overall pick, Portland (traded to Brooklyn) / Kansas, 2011 Maui)

• Doron Lamb (No. 42 overall pick, Milwaukee / Kentucky, 2010 Maui)

• Mike Scott (No. 43 overall pick, Atlanta / Virginia, 2010 Maui)

• Darius Miller (No. 46 overall pick, New Orleans / Kentucky, 2010 Maui)

• Robert Sacre (No. 60 overall pick, Los Angeles Lakers / Gonzaga, 2009 Maui)

The 2012 EA SPORTS Maui Invitational Championship Round field includes Butler, Illinois, Marquette, Mississippi State, North Carolina, Texas, USC and host Chaminade.
