Wahine-Husker pre-game

March 23, 2012 - Robert Collias
It is a sauna in the old lady named War Memorial Gym as first serve between Hawaii and Nebraska is about 20 minutes away. Na Wahine were last here in 1990 when the venue played host to the Hawaiian Airlines early-season tournament.

It is homecoming for Molokai's Kalei Adolpho and Kamehameha Maui's Ginger Long, both opf whom sre just 10 months past high school graduation.

The line to get in the 38-year-old building is bent around and stretching past the end of Sakamoto Pool.

We will try to keep everybody abreast of how the match is going right here, but until then here is Lehia Apana's preview story from Thursday's paper for your reading pleasure.

One little observation: New scoreboards for WMG — and it's long overdue — but is it really necessaary to say on top of them "Welcome fo War Memorial Gym" and on the bottom of them "Department of Parks and Recreation"? There is no spot for a personal foul total to be recorded in basketball — probably should have saved the signage money to purchase a better set of scoreboards with the taxpayers mo0ney, IMHO.
