Vote NOW for Maui chef in Food & Wine’s 2012 "Best New Chef" contest
March 7, 2012 - Carla Tracy
Wanna help put Maui at the top of the culinary food map? All you have to do is cast your vote for one of Maui’s top chefs by Saturday.
You see, Executive Chef Sheldon Simeon of Star Noodle in Lahaina and Leoda’s Kitchen & Pie Shop in Olowalu has been nominated in Food & Wine Magazine’s "People's Best New Chef” for 2012.
We hear that Sheldon is the only nominee representing the state of Hawaii, in the Northwest and Pacific Region category.
“We were in the lead yesterday, then we dropped down today,” says Simeon, who is also the “Best Chef on Maui” as voted by the readers of the Maui News. “If I win, it will help out the culinary scene here in Hawaii. It’s great for Maui alone. There are so many talented chefs here in the state and we should support them.”
Food & Wine invites the dining public to vote online now through March 11 for The People’s Best New Chef, now in its second year. The award – which is an extension of the Food & Wine’s Best New Chefs program - honors talented up-and-coming innovators who have run their own kitchens for five years or fewer.
