Rolfing's Christmas show looks pretty cool
December 21, 2011 - Robert Collias
Here is a press release I received about Mark Rolfing's Global Golf Adventure-Christmas in Hawaii that will air on NBC on Christmas morning here. Rolf lined up some pretty cool guests and I think this will be worth the watch:
MAUI, Hawaii/New York, NY (December 12, 2011) - NBC Sports will present Global Golf Adventure-Christmas in Hawaii, a special hour long episode of the show, produced and hosted by NBC Sports golf personality Mark Rolfing on Christmas Day, December 25th at 10 a.m. HST. Rolfing will take viewers on a journey through Hawaii, visiting four of the Hawaiian Islands; Kauai, Oahu, Maui and Hawaii’s “Big Island.”
Global Golf Adventure-Christmas in Hawaii features an interview with the PGA Tour’s Steve Stricker, who shares candid thoughts on his career resurgence and future goals from his home in Madison, Wisconsin. Rolfing also talks with 11-time ASP World Champion Kelly Slater at Pipeline on Oahu’s North Shore about his surfing dominance and his passion for golf.
The show includes a review of the exciting race for the 2011 FEDEXCup and Rolfing’s reflections on the 2011 golf season and insights and predictions for the upcoming 2012 campaign.
Viewers will also meet some interesting Hawaiian personalities such as “Big Island” Mayor Billy Kenoi, Maui musician Willie K, and Shawn Hosaka, a battalion chief in the Kauai Fire Department. “I have lived in Hawaii for some 35 years and one of my favorite times of year here is Christmas,” said Rolfing.
“This show is a celebration of the sights and sounds of Hawaii – a chance to showcase the Aloha spirit. It’s also an opportunity to tour the special and unique golf and travel destinations on the islands and meet some of the wonderful people of Hawaii.”
Stricker, the sixth and highest ranked American player in the world tells Rolfing: “I would love, love to win a major, but again, I feel fortunate to have done what I’ve done, especially the last few years.”
Slater, current World Surfing Champion tells Rolfing: “The year after I took up golf (1995), I had my best year on tour, actually had my two best years ever - ‘96 and ‘97.”
Mayor Billy Kenoi describes the ‘Aloha Spirit’: “...You can give as much aloha as you can today. And tomorrow when you wake up you have that much more aloha to give tomorrow too. And it’s not a finite resource you know, kindness, compassion, respect and it doesn’t cost any money.”
Global Golf Adventure-Christmas in Hawaii is presented by Avis. The show is also sponsored by FedEx, Maui Jim, Golf Digest and the Hawaiian Islands. For Global Golf Adventure, NBC’s Mark Rolfing travels the globe in search of exciting and unique golf and travel destinations. Website: www.globalgolfadventure.com
