Kamalani honored at Oregon banquet, June Jones to the Pac-12?
December 5, 2011 - Robert Collias
A couple college football links to hold y'all over the break to next weekend's Heisman Trophy announcement and the start of the bowl season"
Kamehameha Maui graduate Keloni Kamalani, a redshirt sophomore walk-on linebacker at Oregon, finished the regular season with 22 tackles (19th on the team, tops among walk-ons), one for a loss and one forced fumble.
He was honored twice at the Oregon team banquet Sunday — being named one of the "Elite 11" Players on special teams and also as one of 27 Ducks who have a 3.0 or better grade-point average.
Kamalani will get his third conference championship ring some time in the near future as well after the Ducks play in the Rose Bowl against Wisconsin on Jan. 2, 2012.
And while Kamalani will not have a new coach in the fall, former KSM teammate and Baldwin standout Jordan Puu-Robinson will at Washington State, former Texas Tech offensive guru Mike Leach.
Former Baldwin standout Kai Maiava may get to play in a bowl game to cap his college career for 6-7 UCLA — they were granted an appeal from the NCAA to play, if there is a bowl that will take the Bruins — coach Rick Neuheisel is out and who may come in? That's right, some guy named June Jones, who has already talked to Arizona State about it's coaching vacancy.
Wow, all of that could make for a wild, wild Pac-12 for years to come.
