| | Isagawa is nation's top freshmanNovember 8, 2011 - Robert ColliasCassy Isagawa, the former state champion from Baldwin High School, is the top-ranked freshman female golfer in the NCAA, according golfweek.com. After a junior season for the ages for the Bears followed by a senior season that was slightly below that, Isagawa is ranked 13th on the golfweek.com list of all college Division I golfers just four tournaments in to her first season at the University of Oregon. Here is my piece from today's paper that Isagawa is burning it up for the 18th-ranked Ducks. One Cassy quote that didn't make my story due to space limitations: "For spring, I told both of my coaches that I really wanted to come in top three or even win the Pac-12 championship and make it to nationals and come in the top 10. Those are my two main goals for golf for the spring." Don't bet against her — I have seen this girl do amazing things on the golf course. Here is a take from Golfweek's Julie Williams that Isagawa is an unknown no more. And here is a piece from Golfweek's Asher Wildman that behind Isagawa's play, the Oregon women are on the upswing.
