Exclusive Maui properties tempt with organic offerings

October 6, 2011 - Carla Tracy

This fall, locals are invited to “unwind, unplug, and rediscover the charming small town of Hana during an all-inclusive staycation” at Travaasa Hana. Formerly world-renowned as as Hotel Hana-Maui, Travaasa Hana is offering kamaaina 30 percent off its “Total Travaasa” package from now through Dec. 23, 2011.

“The all-inclusive Total Travaasa package offers guests adults-only accommodations in a spacious, plantation-style, ocean view Sea Ranch Cottage. Also included per day are three organic meals, snacks, and non-alcoholic beverages, any 60-minute treatment from the award-winning indoor/outdoor spa, all resort activities, use of sports equipment, wellness classes, use of The Spa facilities, lei greeting upon arrival, and parking.”

“When you factor in all of the adventure, culinary, culture, fitness and spa/wellness experiences we offer, the ‘Total Travaasa’ package presents our guests with an incredible value,” says general manager Mark Stebbings. “They can do as little or as much as they would like, and not worry about resort fees or surprise add-ons.”

Besides dining on gourmet organic meals produced by the staff of Peter Longhi of the famous Maui restaurant family, the package includes activities such as a historical tour of Hana town, guided coastal and garden walks, bicycle tours, yoga, pilates, martial arts conditioning, and much more.

“For sun seekers, a daily shuttle to Hamoa Beach or relaxing at the infinity wellness pool will provide a daily dose of Vitamin D,” says the press release.

On Thursday, Oct. 20 as part of the Festivals of Aloha in Hana, the resort will feature a Hawaiian Food Tasting from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Sample taro, coconut and more. You don’t have to be a guest to enjoy this and it’s open to all ages. Note that children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. It will be held at the resort’s Makana Center. Reservations are not required.

Kamaaina rates for the “Total Travaasa” package start at $349 per person, per night, based on double occupancy, excluding taxes and service charges.

Targeted to open Nov. 11, SoulSpace Sanctuary will be Maui’s newest exclusive destination focusing on the authentic essence and healing energy of the island, according to Xorin Balbes, founder and owner.

The gated compound is located on Maui’s North Shore, two miles above Paia. Built in 1909, SoulSpace consists of five restored historic buildings and features 28 guest rooms, suites and bungalows.

“Guests may choose to participate in sunrise and sunset meditations, enjoy the organic gardens, eat in the Maui farm-to-table dining room, and find their own private respite on the six-acre property,” says Xorin.

“The entire facility has been enhanced with modern amenities to provide a unique and peaceful environment for rejuvenation, restoration and self-discovery.”

“The Sanctuary experience is complemented by our guest-only dining room, Harvest , which features local organic fare, perfectly created by acclaimed Executive Chef Craig King. He has been at the forefront of the healthy food revolution for more than 20 years. As the personal chef for some of the best-known names in the natural food business (Steve Demos, White Wave/Silk; John Mackey, Whole Foods Michael Gilliland/Libby Cook, Wild Oats), as well as notable Hollywood stars, Chef Craig brings to SoulSpace Sanctuary a deep understanding of the healing qualities of food to support our evolution.”
