Maui Brewers Festival to flow in Kahului May 14

April 25, 2011 - Carla Tracy

Wanna sip icy cold craft beers from Hawaii and beyond? Then buy your tickets now for the Maui Brewers Festival, to flow from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday, May 14 outdoors at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center in Kahului. The third annual event should be tons of fun, and you’ll find plenty of island grinds to pair with all of the beers as well as prize giveaways and live entertainment.

Besides the MACC, presenters include Maui Brewing Co and Hawaii Nui Brewing.

”The event is a fundraiser for The Center with net proceeds benefiting its arts and educational programs for students, seniors and the Maui community,” says the MACC’s Marketing Director Karee Carlucci. “Showcasing the best hand-crafted and imported beers made in Hawaii, California, the Pacific Northwest and beyond, Maui Brewers Festival will feature 28 breweries.”

The list includes Anacapa Brewing Co., Anderson Valley, Ballast Point Brewing Co., Bear Republic, Big Island Brewhaus, Blue Moon, Boston Beer Company, Caldera Brewing Co., Coronado Brewing Co., Deschutes Brewery, Hawaii Nui Brewing, Kona Brewing Co., Lost Coast Brewery, Maui Brewing Co., Moylan’s Brewing Co., Pizza Port, Primo Brewing & Malting Co., Pyramid, Redhook Ale Brewery, Redstone Meadery, Rogue, Santa Cruz Mountain Brewing, Shocktop, Sierra Nevada Brewing Co., Stone Brewing Co., Uncommon Brewers and Widmer.

“The breweries invited to participate in the festival were chosen because of their commitment to making craft beer where quality, flavor and uniqueness comes before cheaper, bland and mass-produced beers,” says Garrett Marrero, founder and owner of Maui Brewing Co.

“They all play an excellent role in the resurgence of great beer in America. With two successful festivals under our belt, Maui Brewers Festival has made a name for itself and is here to stay.”

Between sips of your favorite brews, enjoy island style dishes from local purveyors such as 808 Bistro, Alexander’s Fish, Aloha Events Catering, Cake Bakery, Famous Dave’s, Flatbread & Company, Food for the Soul, Fred’s Mexican Cafe, Maui Brewing Co. Brew Pub, Maui Catering Company, Maui Culinary Academy, Maui Tacos, Whole Foods, Who Cut the Cheese, Wow-Wee Maui Kava Bar & Grill and Zia Maria Gelato.

On stage, the entertainment line-up includes some of Maui’s hottest bands and singers. There will also be logo merchandise for sale.

Advance general admission price is $45 per adult, which includes eight four-ounce pours of beer, a commemorative beer glass, ono pupu and desserts, and event parking. The $75 happy hour package features reserved parking, early entry at 2 p.m. for a private sampling with the brewmasters or their reps, and a special amenity.

On th day of the event, pricing will be $55 for general admission, and $85 for the happy hour package. The MACC’s internet and phone fees will apply. Of course, only adults ages 21 years and older will be admitted.
