Last chance to see whales on Celebrity Chef Cruise

Whales sightings are winding down fast as it's the end of the season. But you can still have a grand old time on the water and spot a few stragglers aboard Pacific Whale Foundation's Celebrity Chef Dinner Cruise.

“Chef Nacho Perez of Old Lahaina Lu‘au will be the featured ‘Celebrity Chef’ for the month of April,” says Anne Rillero, PWC’s chief marketing officer. “His cruise takes place on Friday, April 15 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. out of Lahaina Harbor.”

"For this cruise, Chef Perez is artfully combining tantalizing island flavors in ways that everyone will love," says Nikole McElroy, Chief Operating Officer for PWF's Eco-Adventures. "His menu also features locally raised island vegetables and fruit, as well as Maui Cattle Company's all-natural, locally raised beef and sustainably caught mahi-mahi."

The menu includes:

Salad of Island Greens with Poha Berry Vinaigrette: locally-grown Waipoli mixed greens, Escbedo Farms tomatoes, carrots, and cucumbers served with a house-made Poha Berry Vinaigrette.

Appetizer of Hawaiian BBQ Guava Chicken Skewers, marinated with guava barbecue sauce.

Entree choices of "Pulehu" Maui Cattle Co. Top Sirloin with an island marinade sesame seed oil, garlic, Hawaiian salt and pepper, slow roasted and topped with Waipoli Watercress, cherry tomatoes, Kula onions, and green onions.

Or macadamia nut crusted Mahi Mahi with Lomi Lomi Tomato and Ginger, a relish made from Escbedo Farms Tomato, Kula sweet onions, island grown ginger, green onions, Hawaiian salt and lime juice.

Or Lemongrass Tofu: locally-made tofu marinated in turmeric, shoyu, sambal, garlilc, lemongrass, and basil sauteed and topped with julienne carrots, locally-grown zucchini, and pohole ferns from Hana.

Dessert: Molokai Sweet Potato Haupia Pie topped with Coconut Pudding

The cruise takes place on Pacific Whale Foundation's vessel Ocean Discovery, a double-deck power catamaran built with custom features to elegantly accommodate dinner cruises. All guests will enjoy guaranteed outdoor seating on the bow or upper deck. The premium four-course dinner will be served with complimentary chilled sodas, tropical juices, filtered water, Maui Brewing Co. beer, wine and tropical mixed drinks (up to three alcoholic drinks per adult; valid i.d. required). Live Hawaiian music and storytelling will entertain diners during the meal.
