Sharky's Family Fun Restaurant takes it to the extreme
April 12, 2011 - Carla Tracy
Sharky’s Family Fun Restaurant at Lipoa Center in Kihei is becoming renowned as an “extreme food” kind of place. It serves the largest BLT on the island with one pound of bacon along with Maui’s biggest pizza and largest nachos.
In addition, diners may enter to win the Great White Chicken Wing Eating Challenge any day of the week. All you have to do is eat eight super hot wings in five minutes to win a T shirt.
“Try to take down the meanest shark wings in the seven seas,” says Manager Josh Marten. “They are really HOT! Each table will have a bell and when you are done you ring the bell. No liquids can be consumed, except for extra hot sauce, of course, and a waiver will need to be signed. If you make it through the inferno of flavor, you will win a T-shirt saying you survived the Great White Attack at Sharky’s. If you can’t finish, a red siren will go off and the waitress will give you a glass of milk.” In addition, Sharky’s will celebrate its new menu with a grand relaunch party from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, April 17.
“We never had a grand opening, and the menu is changing, so we thought, why not have a party?” says Marten. Besides having a pirate ship to jump on, balloons and a face painter, the party will feature Wii sports games, a bouncy castle and more.
“The day of the party, we’ll feature live music all day, pie-eating and hot-dog eating contests. And, if you dress like a pirate, you get free tokens for the games.”
Fun birthday packages are available for the little ones. Prices start at $14.95 for a six person minimum and you get reserved table, two hours exclusive game room, 12 tokens per guest, pizza, drinks, balloons and more. Cake is extra.
